I have always seen from my childhood that during holidays we all would be relaxing watching TV or simply playing, roaming around but our mom would always be in kitchen from morning till night. Guests would be coming. She would start preparations the previous day and it will be over the next day only. Poor thing she won’t even get time to enjoy dinner with family and won’t get time to relax at all.
She would be stressing about things being done correctly and the next day she would be tired and exhausted. So I learned certain things from my mom for holiday season that we need to be relaxed , well rested during holiday season and not stressed.
- Plan plan plan
I know what you might be thinking we had heard that thousand times. But trust me ladies it works. Well in advance make a to do list.(This is my favorite part). Decide about the gifts you are getting for everybody and buy it. Hide it in a safe place.
Prepare the list of dishes you would be cooking on festive day. Estimate the time required , feasibility to complete and start preparations in advance.

- Delegate – The more the merrier
Don’t overwhelm by doing all the work by yourself. Once you have planned everything delegate the work. Try to get help from everybody – husband ,kids , friends , family . Include everybody and I am sure you will get time to relax.
If delegation does not work try to outsource things as much as possible. I know it will cost you. But since you will be getting a stress free holiday. I think its worth the money.
- Go outside
Try to book ahead a family dinner or plan a family trip or tour so that the pressure of hosting a festive party is not on your shoulder.
So these are some of the tips that I practise to stay away from holiday stress and to have a peaceful relaxing holiday.
